What Are Australian Nationally Recognised Qualifications?
Australian nationally recognised (accredited) qualifications are the tertiary (post-school) Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications (see the qualifications below). Australian nationally recognised qualifications are taught to the same quality standards across Australia. These standards specified by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) are regulated and assured by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). This means that an Australian nationally recognised qualification has the same quality standards, value and assured recognition, regardless of where you earn it.
How can you tell if a course is nationally recognised?
Australian nationally recognised courses are given a ‘course code’. This contains a set of identifying characters and numbers and will be displayed alongside the course name. For example, the Diploma of business course code is BSB50215. Course codes change over time as qualifications are added, updated or removed. Another way of telling is whether the course is accompanied by the logo below. If the logo is displayed alongside the course including on the course’s brochure, web page or advertisement, the course is nationally recognised:
